Luscious lips are every woman’s secret wish. Here are some simple tips to regain soft, luscious and kissable lips.

  1. Remove all the dead skin from your lips with Vaseline and a toothbrush! Apply the petroleum jelly to your lips, then brush in circular motions.
  2. If you want to go with daring lipstick in bold colours like red, keep the rest of your make-up light, especially the eyes.
  3. SPF is not just for your face, it’s for your lips too. UV rays can damage your lips just as much as your skin. Buy lip products that contain SPF for those days you’re out lapping up the sunshine.
  4. For healthy lips, make sure you diet is rich in Vitamins A, B and C. This means upping your intake of green vegetables and juicy fruits. Think salads in the summer and soups in the winter.
  5. For plumper lips, apply liner just outside your natural lip line, then dab a bit of gloss in the middle of your bottom lip and smack lips together.
  6. To choose the right shade of lipstick always opt for a lipstick shade 1 or 2 colours darker than your normal shade
  7. Lipstick will last longer if you fill in your lips with the liner first. If you’re using light lipstick, try a nude liner. Then slick your lipstick on top.
  8. Defined lips are great, but make sure the liner matches the lipstick or gloss. Dark liner and light lips can become tacky.
  9. If you lick your lips all the time, you may notice that they dry out. Instead of keeping them moisturised, the saliva dries out and takes out the natural moisture in your lips with it. Biting your lips can damage them and make them sore.
  10. If you want to test a lipstick on your lips, but feels this is unhygienic you can test by swiping the stick on your fingertips. It’s a closer fit to your lips than the back of your hand – also make sure to always wipe the lipstick with a tissue before putting it back for somebody else to re-use.
  11. No colour lipstick is a bad colour. If you do have colours that you don’t like try to mix and match it up with existing colours to create a new colour look.
  12. Keep lipstick off your teeth by using your index finger and pop it in your mouth and pull it out. The excess lipstick will come off on your finger instead of your teeth.
  13. The ageing process make our lips thinner. Opt for a creamer lipstick to make your lips look younger and fuller.
  14. If your lipstick breaks off, simply take off the broken portion with a tissue, then slowly wave a lit match under the broken piece of lipstick. When it’s melted a bit, put it back on the base, swivel it down and put it in the fridge uncovered for 30 minutes.
  15. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your skin, body and lips hydrated. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and you’ll never go thirsty.
  16. If you smoke then your lips can darken, thin and wrinkle. Smoking will age and dry out your lips quicker, so stopping.
  17. Massage your lips daily by using your fingertip and rubbing in circular motions over the lip – this will increase blood supply and helps with the regeneration process
